PET FOOD BANK & HARLEY’S HAMPER PROGRAM
Named after Harley Smith – a Weimaraner with an intense love of food and dog parks. Sadly, Harley passed away at the age of 9 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Harley’s parents are the founders of Parachutes for Pets and knew that a program to help ensure that animals always had a full belly would honour his memory perfectly.
Parachutes for Pets supplies the pet food & supplies for Veteran’s hampers on a monthly basis, as well for Horizon Housing and Seniors Resource Society through the holidays.
Low-income households within Calgary city limits can also apply for a food hamper once every 3 months for a maximum of 4 hampers per year.
Only 1 program can be accessed at a time – please do not apply for all programs at once. If you are applying for a one time emergency hamper, please indicate your circumstances in your application.
Please note that proof of low-income status is mandatory and one of the following is required:
- CPP payment stub/deposit slip
- AISH card
- payment stub from a low-income program
- letter from a support worker stating low-income status
Effective Wednesday December 8th, 2022:
We will no longer be delivering hampers, with exception of seniors and to social workers (for distribution). If you are in need of a hamper, we have pick up options available. Please fill out a hamper request and we will reach out with information.
