Education is a core pillar of Parachutes for Pets, and Pawsitive Pathways was created to support vulnerable youth who may experience isolation, stigma, or mental health challenges, including transgender and gender-diverse youth, Indigenous youth, and others facing systemic barriers.

This 8-week small-group program was developed by a Master Social Worker and is delivered in weekly sessions of 6–8 participants. Through structured curriculum, emotional regulation strategies, peer connection, and animal-assisted engagement, youth are equipped with tools that foster resilience, confidence, and long-term emotional wellbeing.

In partnership with Skipping Stone Foundation and Siksika First Nation, who provide leadership and cultural guidance, the program ensures participants receive a safe, inclusive, and community-informed experience. Guest professionals further enrich the program by expanding youth access to supportive networks and resources.

While the formal program runs for eight weeks, its true impact extends far beyond, equipping youth with lifelong skills and a renewed sense of belonging.

“My son was smiling for the first time in months, every day coming to and from the classes.”
